Breaking up is brilliant

We at London-ers are strong independent types who are our own better halves. With the annual sick-up fest that is Valentine’s Day over, here’s seven reasons why breaking up is one of the best things that can happen to you.
1. You’ll find out who your friends are. (Clue: they’re not the ones who stop inviting you out because you’re not part of a couple anymore.)
2. You’ll feel sexy and desired. Honestly. Just watch the offers of a ‘shoulder to cry on’ that come pouring in when word of your new status gets around. Of course, you’ll choose not to sleep with them, but it’s nice to know the offer’s there.
4. You’ll reinvent yourself a little bit: new hair, new clothes, slightly different attitude that’ll you just try on for size. Go with it. It’s fun.
5. With all the bigging up from your pals, (“You are so funny/pretty/cool, anyone would be overjoyed to date you”) you’ll start to feel like Charlie Big Potatoes. Which you are.
6. There’s never a better excuse to treat yourself than when you’re newly single. You want a puppy? Go for it. Another bottle of red? It’s already open. Tattoo? Well, you might want to think about that one just a little.
7. Let’s face it, you’ll lose weight.
And seven reasons why being single is great.
1. You get everywhere much faster when you only have yourself to think about, literally AND metaphorically. Imagine!
2. No compromises. Not on anything.
3. You want sex? You can have it. Tonight. With at least a fifth of the people on your Facebook friends list, although we wouldn’t recommend doing them all at once.
4. Look at your friends who are partnered up. Hand on heart, how many of their relationships would you actually want? Thought so.
5. A bed to yourself is your absolute human right. Enjoy it while it lasts
6. You can be a kissing slut. Kissing is great and comes highly recommended by all at London-ers.
7. Frankly you were too good for him/her anyway.
London-ers: we’re the written equivalent of a pep-talk and a couple of shandies. Sometimes anyway.
