Ever wondered why even 70-year-old grannies can pass for a yummy mummy in the South Pacific?

It’s because of the natural beauty products they use, which are based on fresh coconut milk, macadamia and sikeci nut extracts, starfruit and pineapple, and exotic flowers such as frangipani.

Anna Theofanous and her husband Alex stumbled across this million-dollar secret while on honeymoon in the South Pacific island of Fiji. Back home, drawing on her background working for West End salons like Nails Inc, with clients such as Cheryl Cole and Jack Nicholson to her name, Anna and Alex decided to open up their own nail and beauty salon in north London.

And so, in March 2006, Glitterati was born.

The salon has three rooms, so up to 10 people can be seen at once. Natural light streams in to the largest room at the front, which has floor to ceiling windows, cream walls and wooden floors. And with its monochrome prints of past and present beauty icons – Madonna, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe – you’ll feel gorgeous even before your manicure’s begun.

True to her word, Anna uses the products she first discovered on her honeymoon, all of which are 100 per cent natural. Book a pedicure and you’ll be treated in a smaller room with walls the colour of a cappuccino; if you prefer a massage, you’ll be led to a room decorated with fresh flowers and fluffy towels. Hot stone therapy is among the more unusual treatments on offer – Peruvian volcanic basalt stones are heated, then applied to your skin to relieve tension (£45 per hour). Or perhaps you’d like to try a traditional Fijian Bobo massage?

One of Glitterati’s most popular treatments is the tropical sugar glow (£20 for 30 minutes). Choose this and you’ll be treated to a coconut milk bath, followed by a massage using an exfoliating body scrub which uses Pure Fiji pure cane sugar and tropical nut oils.
