London - Choc Full Of Events
By Chris Lo • Oct 12th, 2008 • Category: NewsLondoners, prepare to smother yourselves and roll around in your own decadence – this week (Oct 13 – 19) is officially Chocolate Week. From tomorrow until Sunday, a massive range of Choco-tastic events is hitting the capital.
Free tastings are taking place at some of London’s finest chocolatiers, including Amedei, Artisan du Chocolat, Divine, Hope & Greenwood and more. Islington’s Almeida restaurant will be putting on a chocolate-themed menu to celebrate the week, including pigeon with chocolate jus and brill with a hazelnut and coco crust. Baffling? Certainly. Intriguing? Possibly…
On Friday, Fortnum & Mason will have Prudence Staite, a preposterously-named sculptor from Food Is Art, crafting a fully chocolate sculpture live in their demonstration kitchen. The resulting masterpiece will be auctioned off in aid of Children’s Hospices UK, although whether the recipient of the sculpture will attempt to slowly devour the sculpture or simply watch it melt in his/her living room is anyone’s guess.
Head to the official Chocolate Week website for more information and a full list of events.

Favourite place in London: Regent Sounds guitar shop on Denmark Street in Soho, because their selection of Fenders would make Prince blush.
